Fanboys

I was at Best But with Dapo the other day because he wanted to buy an Xbox 360. We're standing in line and talking about which games he should get and this dude in front of us turns around and goes "you should get a Playstation 3 instead".

Ooooh boy. He starts going on a tantrum about how the PS3 is superior to the Xbox. FANBOY ALERT. Dapo and I are rolling eyes at each other as this guy is telling us how great the PS3 is because it can play blu-ray (!!!!1) and all the great games coming out soon. We argue back that is every PS3 fanboy's excuse. I don't care what's coming out in a year, there's nothing to play on it now. Why would I buy a $500 dollar paper weight? Wait, to play blu-ray movies! He also goes into some other crap, but I know no one that reads this blog cares about video games really so I won't go into it.

I do have to commend Sony on their brilliant marketing over the years. Do you know who have been buying PS3s in the past year? Non-gamers. I don't mean casual gamers like all the people buying the Wii either. I'm talking about all those mid 20-3o year old dudes who have a lot of disposable income who like Sony's commercials and think the PS3 is 'cool'. 2 of my friends own a PS3 now, after asking me which system they should get to play games with and I told them "not PS3". They did it anyway. And they will be bored with it in 6 months to a year because they don't play games. Which is good for me, because I can buy it off of them for mad cheap then!
